Blog Tips for Teachers
Teachers are always searching to find new ways and better
methods to serve their students. Sharing ideas and brainstorming with
other professionals is a great way to continue to grow as an educator.
Blogging and visiting the blogs of other teachers can be a great
resource. You can do your research whenever it is convenient for
you. We all have busy schedules so it is nice to know we can take
advantage of these resources at any time day or night.
I have compiled 2 blogs for each age
category, Birth - Preschool and Kindergarten - Grade 3. I am currently a
Head Start Preschool Teacher and am focused on gathering information that will
enhance the room arrangement and organization in my classroom. I hope you
find these blogs valuable.
Birth - Preschool

This blog has room arrangement ideas
and illustrates how teachers can use graph paper to plan room arrangement on
paper before physically moving the furniture.
There are several entries about classroom organization techniques. Activitiy ideas are also available and sets
are available to sale. This is a nice
resource for future classroom activities and how to organize the information into
games and activities that are appropriate for preschoolers.

Gorgeous classroom photos show room
layout and different storage solutions.
The site gives activity suggestions, outlines daily schedules and
teacher responsibilities throughout the day.
I especially liked the activity called, “The Very Hungry Preschooler”. This will be a blog that I revisit to refresh
my activity collections and to get new
room arrangement ideas.
Kindergarten – Grade 3
1. Kindergarten Works
This blog gives great
ideas for classroom organization. I
liked the suggestions for how to organize an easel into an “everything at your
fingertips” teacher’s office. The author
also gave fantastic suggestions for using the other side of the easel instead
of putting it against a wall.
2. The Kindergarten Chick

This blog has a little bit of
everything. The author is a mother of a
4th grader and a preschooler.
She taught Kindergarten for 10 years and is now teaching 2nd
grade. Organization techniques, activities and teaching
philosophies are shared. This blog has
an informal feel and discusses a wide range of topics for early childhood
teachers.
These blogs can be great resources for teachers to create a
supportive learning environment.
Children will be at their best when they are being taught by an inspired
teacher in an organized environment.
Both the children and the teacher will benefit from fresh new updates to
classroom arrangement, organization techniques and fun activities.

I loved the blog http://learningandteachingwithpreschoolers.blogspot.com/ that you wrote about. I do not think I have ever seen a blog with such great room arrangement ideas! I would have loved to use this blog when I was a Resource teacher. I believe that this blog can really help teachers because it shows you different ways to set up a classroom. Also, it shows you how to organize your ideas on graph paper before you move start moving your actual stuff around. I really loved this blog and will use it in the future!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed ready your blog and agree that a well organized teacher and classroom are important aspects in creating a supportive learning environment for children of all ages. I really enjoyed going through the websites you listed and intend on using many of the great tips and techniques given in the blogs. I also enjoyed that many of the blogs offer pictures to correspond with the description of the room arrangement and on how to be better organized.

Although I work with brth-pk students I believe I can gain useful information from all the sites you blogged about. I am always encouraging my teachers to find new ideas they can implement into the classroom and I believe they can get that information from the websites you provided.

I found “Learning and Teaching with Preschoolers” website very informative. They gave many ideas in how to arrange the classroom for effective learning. I also thought it was neat for them to use graph paper as a layout before you arrange or re-arrange the classroom. I also found the many different activities informative as well. There were a lot of activities that I thought was cool that you can use as games.
